Bomb - WW1 Austro-Hungarian 25kg 'Traisen-Voreilbombe' (Set of 6)

History: The T.V.B. 25 was distinctly conceived for the K.u.K. Luftfahrtruppen as an air-burst, anti-personnel bomb with detonation occurring just before ground impact to inflict maximum effect against exposed troops. Its thin-walled steel body emphasized blast transmission over structural penetration. Intended for inverted, nose-up release, the bomb relied on aerodynamic forces during flight to flip it over, driving the telescoping fuze forward to prime the weapon. Because photographic evidence is scarce, its presumed operational appearance features an overall dark oxidized steel body with a natural metal fuze housing and no other distinctive markings.
