Bomb - WW1 Austro-Hungarian 50kg Skoda (Set of 4)

Comprising: Four historically accurate scale models in high-resolution, unpainted, 3D-printed resin. Available in your choice of 1/32, 1/48, or 1/72 scale.

History: The 50kg Škoda bomb ranked among Austria-Hungary’s heaviest standardized aerial bombs during the middle years of the Great War, sitting above the more common 12kg, 15kg, and 24kg classes. It represented the K.u.K. Luftfahrtruppen's push toward true strategic bombing capability within the limitations of the empire’s industrial capacity.

This was a true demolition bomb intended to shatter rather than ignite structures. Lacking Germany’s advanced P.u.W. fuze technology, Škoda relied on straightforward impact fuzes with minimal mechanical complexity. The S.B.50 bomb was not sleek by later standards, but its cruciform tail gave it stable fall characteristics suitable for low-to-medium altitude bombing.

Operational Use: The S.B.50 typically equipped two-seat reconnaissance and light-bomber aircraft to attack enemy troop concentrations, supply lines, and infrastructure on the Eastern and Italian Fronts. Aircraft types documented or structurally capable of carrying this bomb include the Aviatik B-types; Hansa-Brandenburg B.I and G.I; Lohner B.VII; and the Phönix C.I.
