Comprising: Four historically accurate scale models in high-resolution, unpainted, 3D-printed resin. Available in your choice of 1/32, 1/48, or 1/72 scale.
History: One of the major standardized high-explosive aerial weapons adopted by the Royal Naval Air Service and Royal Flying Corps during the Great War, the 112lb aerial bomb was designed by Britain's Royal Laboratory. Entering widespread service by late 1916 as a pivotal structural midpoint in Great Britain's medium-weight bomb engineering, it supplemented lighter 20lb and 100lb types to provide greater penetration and fragmentation effects for tactical bombing.
It remained a mainstay of British aerial bombing throughout the middle years of the conflict. Production and employment of the 112lb bomb increased significantly as bombing sorties grew in scale and frequency, and it continued in use alongside heavier weapons as aircraft capable of carrying larger payloads were introduced.
Operational Use: Documented to have equipped several aircraft, including the Airco D.H.4, D.H.9, D.H.9A "Ninak," and D.H.10; Armstrong Whitworth F.K.3, F.K.8, and Atlas; Avro 504C and 504K; Blackburn R.T.1 Kangaroo; Bristol F.2B Fighter; Fairey Campania; Handley Page O/100 and O/400; Martinsyde G.100 and G.102 "Elephant"; Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2, F.E.2, R.E.7, B.E.12, and R.E.8; Short Bros. Admiralty Types 166, 184, 320, 827, and 830; Short Bomber; Sopwith F.1 Camel, Rhino, and Snipe; Vickers Vimy; Westland Wapiti; and the Wight "Converted" Seaplane.
