Comprising: Eight historically accurate scale models in high-resolution, 3D-printed resin. Decals included.
History: Carbonit AG was a German explosives manufacturer founded in the late 19th century. By the early 1900s it operated plants in Hamburg, Kiel, and Leverkusen‑Schlebusch, producing TNT and other military explosives, supplying the German Army and Navy. During WW1, Carbonit also produced bomb casings, fuzes, and complete explosive and incendiary bombs for aerial use.
These brandbomben (fire bombs), were thin-walled metal containers filled with a resinous flammable mixture of a thermite-type compound designed to ignite, not explode. They typically weighed about 10kgs with a 4.7 liter capacity and the blunt nose ensured maximum dispersal of the incendiary.
Operational Use: Single-engine machines such as the Albatros, DFW and LVG C-types deployed these bombs in balloon attack and harassment roles. Designated bombers known to have carried Brandbomben include: AEG, Friedrichschafen and Gotha G-types (often carried in mixed loads with Sprengbomben on raids against cities, depots, and airfields); Zeppelin-Staaken reisenflugzeuge. Confirmed Marineflieger machines include the Friedrichschafen FF.33, FF.41 and FF.49; Hansa-Brandenburg W.12 and W.29.
Note: Images may include digital renderings of the actual 3D designs used to produce this scale model. Each respective scale is customized to ensure the greatest level detail and historical accuracy while factoring the limitations of the printing process in order to produce the most pleasing results.
