Comprising: Eight historically accurate scale models in high-resolution, unpainted, 3D-printed resin. Available in your choice of 1/32, 1/48, or 1/72 scale.
History: During the Great War, the Corpo Aeronautico Militare and Servizio Aeronautico della Regia Marina adapted trench-mortar ammunition, including the 162mm bombarda shell, into aerial bombs in an effort to achieve a greater destructive effect against entrenched positions and rear-area targets. With added tail fins, stabilizing vanes, and impact fuzes, the 162mm converted-mortar bomb saw relatively widespread operational use until purpose-built devices were introduced.
Operational Use: Typically, these bombs were carried externally and in small numbers, and were intended for short-range missions against high-value targets such as fortifications, rail hubs, and supply depots. Aircraft types known to have been armed with this type include Caproni, FBA, Macchi, SIA, and Voisin variants, as well as M-Class and V-Class airships.
Note: Images may include digital renderings of the actual 3D designs used to produce this scale model. Each scale is customized to ensure the highest level of detail and historical accuracy, while balancing the limitations of the printing process to produce the most pleasing results.
