Comprising: Eight unpainted 3D-printed resin bombs in your choice of 1/72, 1/48, or 1/32 scale.
History: Upon entry into World War I, the Corpo Aeronautico Militare and the Servizio Aeronautico della Regia Marina faced an urgent need for effective aerial munitions. Before purpose-built aircraft bombs became available, adaptation of existing ground ordnance began when Italian aviators and engineers modified standard trench mortar bombs. Tail fins, stabilizing vanes, and impact fuzes were added to existing artillery shells, transforming them into simple gravity-dropped aerial weapons. The 90mm shell was attractive because it was already in mass production, had a substantial explosive charge, and required minimal re-engineering.
Operational Use: Used primarily by reconnaissance and light bomber aircraft over the Isonzo Front. Though crude and aerodynamically inefficient, these converted munitions bridged the gap between hand-dropped grenades and later standardized bombs. Aircraft known to have been armed with this type include various Ansaldo, Caproni, Farman, FBA, Macchi, Savoia-Pomilio, and Voisin makes.
