Comprising: Twelve historically accurate scale models in high-resolution, unpainted 3D-printed resin.
History: This 2-kg high-explosive aerial bomb was one of the smallest Russian aviation bombs developed during the First World War. Emerging in 1915 as part of the Imperial Russian Army Air Service’s effort to formalize bomb types by weight class, it featured a compact steel body with a simple impact fuze and light tail assembly suited to carriage in quantity. The type remained in use through the Russian Civil War, especially where stocks of Imperial munitions persisted, before being superseded in the 1920s by more modern designs. The designation “FAB” (Fugasnaya Aviatsionnaya Bomba) was introduced under Soviet ordnance standardization in the 1920s. At that time, earlier Imperial high-explosive bombs were retroactively grouped into the FAB series by weight, which is why the 2-kg type is now commonly referred to as FAB-2 in modern literature.
Operational Use: Its small size allowed aircraft to carry multiple bombs on light racks, making it particularly useful for reconnaissance aircraft conducting harassment or tactical interdiction missions. It was intended primarily for use against personnel, supply columns, and other soft or dispersed targets. Types known to have utilized this bomb include the: Anatra D, Farman HF.30, Farman MF.11, Lebed XII, Sikorsky Ilya Muromets, and Voisin III.
Note: Images may include digital renderings of the actual 3D designs used to produce this scale model. Each respective scale is customized to ensure the greatest level detail and historical accuracy while factoring the limitations of the printing process in order to produce the most pleasing results.
