Bomb - WW1 British 20lb Hale H.E. (Set of 8)

Comprising: Eight historically accurate scale models in high-resolution, unpainted, 3D-printed resin. One decal sheet included. Available in your choice of 1/32, 1/48, or 1/72 scale.

History: Invented by Frederick Marten Hale in 1913 and manufactured by the Cotton Powder Company in Faversham, Kent, these were reportedly Britain's only high-explosive aerial bombs on inventory at the start of the Great War. Hale bombs were dropped during the Royal Naval Air Service’s first strategic bombing raids, the first destruction of a Zeppelin in aerial combat, and the first sinking of a U-boat by an airplane. Hale's 20lb bomb remained in regular use with the RNAS and Royal Flying Corps through the summer of 1917 until the last supplies were exhausted.

Operational Use: Documented to have equipped several aircraft, including the Avro 504 variants; Bristol Scout; Morane-Saulnier L "Parasol"; Martinsyde S.1; Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2 variants, B.E.12, F.E.2 variants, R.E.5, and R.E.7; Short Bros. Admiralty Type 74; Sopwith Baby, Churchill, D.1 Tractor, Tabloid, and Schneider; and the Wight A.1 Improved Navyplane and Admiralty Type 840.
