Bomb - British 20lb Hale H.E. (Set of 8)
Comprising: Eight unpainted 3D-printed resin bombs in your choice of 1/72, 1/48, or 1/32 scale. One decal sheet.
History: Invented by Frederick Marten Hale in 1913 and manufactured by the Cotton Powder Company in Faversham, Kent, these were the reportedly Britain's only high-explosive aerial bombs on inventory at the start of WW1. Hale bombs were dropped in some of Royal Naval Air Service’s first strategic bombing raids, the first destruction of a Zeppelin in aerial combat, and the first sinking of a U-boat by airplane. Hale's 20lb bomb remained in regular use with the RNAS and RFC through the summer of 1917, until the last supplies were used.
Operational Use: Among the aircraft known to have been armed with this type are the Avro 504, Bristol Scout, Morane-Saulnier L 'Parasol'; Martinsyde S.1; Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2, B.E.12, F.E.2 R.E.5, and R.E.7; Short Admiralty Type 74; Sopwith D.1 Tractor, Churchill, Tabloid, Schneider and Baby; and the Wight A.1 Improved Navyplane.
