Gun Mount - WW1 French Étévé (Nieuport) Ring (Set of 2)

Description: Designed by pilot and engineer Albert Étévé of France's STAé in 1915, his namesake "tourelle" became the first mobile turret for a machine gun installed on an aircraft. Colloquially known as the Nieuport Ring, the Étévé was typically mounted with a Lewis machine gun. It became the standard aerial gun fitting for France and was also employed by Britain's RFC and RNAS (classified as the No. 3 Mk. I), the Imperial Russian Air Service, and Belgium's Aviation Militaire Belge. It remained in use until 1932.

Aircraft documented to have been equipped with the système Étévé mount include the Anatra D and Anade; Bréguet Type V; Caudron R.4; Farman-Nelis GN1; Nieuport 10, 12, 12bis, and 14 A2; Royal Aircraft Factory R.E.7; and Sopwith 1½ Strutter.
